Medicine Policy

Goodrxtab was built on a simple belief — that people deserve access to genuine, affordable medicines without having to jump through unnecessary hoops. Everything we do, from the products we list to the way we handle your order, is guided by that principle. This Medicine Policy sets out the standards we hold ourselves to and the expectations we have of our customers when purchasing through our platform.

Whether you are buying for the first time or you have been with us for years, we encourage you to read this page carefully. It covers what we stock, how we handle prescriptions, and the compliance framework that governs how we operate.

What We Stock and Why It Matters

Goodrxtab carries a carefully selected range of generic and over-the-counter medicines sourced from licensed pharmaceutical manufacturers. Every product on our platform has been evaluated against current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) guidelines and World Health Organization (WHO) international standards before it is made available for purchase.

We do not list products arbitrarily. Each medicine goes through an internal review process that considers its regulatory standing, therapeutic value, and suitability for online dispensing. If a product does not meet our criteria — at any point — it does not make it onto the Site.

Understanding Generic Medicines

A large portion of our catalogue consists of generic medicines, and we think it is worth explaining what that actually means, because there is still a lot of confusion around the topic.

A generic medicine is a pharmaceutical product that contains the same active ingredient, in the same strength and dosage form, as an original branded drug. It works the same way in the body, produces the same therapeutic outcome, and meets the same safety standards. The key difference is the price — generics cost significantly less because the manufacturers who produce them did not bear the original cost of research, clinical trials, or brand development.

Generics only enter the market once the patent protecting the original branded product has expired. At that point, regulatory authorities assess each generic product for bioequivalence — meaning they confirm it behaves identically in the body to the branded version — before granting approval.

A few things that may differ between a generic and its branded equivalent:

  • Appearance — the colour, shape, or size of a tablet may vary due to trademark restrictions. This does not affect how the medicine works.
  • Inactive ingredients — fillers, binders, and coating agents may differ from one manufacturer to another. These have no bearing on the active ingredient’s safety or effectiveness.
  • Packaging — generic products are typically packaged more simply, which contributes to the lower cost.
  • Manufacturer — after a patent expires, multiple licensed facilities may produce the same generic, each under their own regulatory approvals.

What does not differ is what matters most: the clinical effect, the dosage, and the safety profile. Generic medicines are not inferior alternatives — they are the same treatment at a lower price.

Prescription Medicines — Our Policy

When a Prescription is Needed

Certain medicines available on Goodrxtab are classified as Prescription-Only Medicines (POMs). These cannot be dispensed without a valid prescription issued by a licensed and registered healthcare professional. This requirement applies regardless of how you are paying, where you are located, or how many times you have ordered the same product before.

Over-the-counter (OTC) products do not require a prescription and can be purchased directly.

How to Submit Your Prescription

If your order includes a prescription medicine, you will need to provide your prescription before we can process or dispatch the order. We accept prescriptions through the following methods:

  • Uploading a clear, legible scanned copy or photograph during the checkout process.
  • Emailing a copy to our support team at the address listed at the bottom of this page.

Prescriptions must be valid, clearly legible, and issued by a recognised healthcare professional. We are unable to process orders based on prescriptions that are expired, illegible, or cannot be verified.

Prescription Verification

Once your prescription has been received, a member of our customer support team may reach out to you before the order is confirmed and dispatched. This is a routine step that helps us:

  • Verify that the prescription is authentic and has been legitimately issued.
  • Confirm the medicine name, dosage, and prescriber information where anything is unclear.
  • Ensure the order meets all eligibility requirements before payment is finalised.

All prescription documents are handled in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection regulations. Your health information is never shared beyond what is necessary to process your order.

Our Position on Controlled Substances

This is non-negotiable: Goodrxtab does not sell controlled substances. Full stop.

We operate in strict compliance with the regulatory frameworks governing pharmaceutical dispensing, including but not limited to the U.S. Controlled Substances Act, the relevant guidelines of the Drug Enforcement Administration, FDA recommendations, and United Nations drug control conventions.

Any order that appears to involve controlled, restricted, or prohibited substances will be declined immediately. We do not make exceptions to this policy under any circumstances, regardless of how a request is framed.

We also strongly discourage self-medication for any condition that warrants professional medical supervision. If you are unsure whether a medicine requires a prescription, please contact our support team before placing an order.

Product Quality and Compliance Checks

Before any medicine is listed on Goodrxtab, it goes through a structured internal compliance review. This is not a one-time process — it is ongoing. Products are monitored regularly, and our listings are updated if anything changes with regard to a product’s regulatory status or quality standing.

Our review process covers:

  • Verification of the manufacturer’s licence and production credentials.
  • Confirmation that the product complies with applicable national and international pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Inspection of storage requirements, packaging integrity, and expiry date management.
  • Review of labelling accuracy and completeness.
  • Final internal sign-off before the product is made available on the Site.

We carry out periodic audits to ensure that what we promise in this policy is what we are actually delivering in practice.

Patient Safety and Responsible Information

We take seriously the responsibility that comes with operating in the healthcare space. Every product description, dosage note, and piece of health-related content on Goodrxtab is written to be accurate, balanced, and evidence-informed.

We do not make inflated claims about any product. We do not present product information as a substitute for professional medical advice. And we do not list medicines that we cannot stand behind in terms of safety and quality.

If you have a specific medical condition, are currently on other medications, or are unsure whether a product is right for you, please speak to a qualified healthcare provider before placing an order. Our platform is a purchasing tool — not a replacement for a doctor.

How This Policy Connects to Our Other Policies

Our Medicine Policy does not operate in isolation. It works alongside our Payment Policy, Shipping Policy, and Refund and Returns Policy to give you a complete picture of how your order is handled from start to finish.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Orders for prescription medicines will only be processed after the prescription has been reviewed and confirmed.
  • Shipping timelines and available delivery methods are covered in our Shipping Policy.
  • Returns on prescription medicines are subject to stricter eligibility criteria than OTC products, in line with pharmaceutical safety regulations.

We recommend reading all relevant policies before completing a purchase, particularly if you are ordering a prescription medicine for the first time.
